In 1996, Mercy Hospital developed the first Lymphedema Treatment Center in Northern New England. Today, Mercy’s Lymphedema Treatment Center remains dedicated to excellence in the treatment of all forms of lymphedema and related conditions. Our therapists are specially trained in Breast Cancer Rehabilitation, interventions are provided for individuals with post-breast surgery edema, auxiliary web syndrome, soft tissue and/or orthopedic restrictions.
Certified Therapists
Our team of licensed occupational therapists are also credentialed to treat lymphedema. To become a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT), practitioners must successfully complete 135+ hours of lymphedema specific continuing education, including both a written and practical examination.
In addition to CLT certification, our full-time therapists have earned advanced credentials granted by the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA). This designation requires a minimum of one year of experience as a practicing CLT and successful completion of an intensive written examination.
